چکیده

Hemangioblastomas are uncommon tumors that occur mostly in the cerebellum, medulla, and spinal cord. Supratentonal hemangioblastomas are rare [i ], and hemangioblastomas of the optic nerve have, to our knowledge, been reported in only eight previous cases, all of which were unilateral [2, 3]. We report a case of bilateral optic nerve hemangioblastomas, in which the resultant visual loss was the only indication in a patient who had von Hippel-Lindau disease and occult renal cell carcinoma.

Long-Term Use of Intravitreal Bevacizumab (Avastin) for the Treatment of Von Hippel-Lindau Associated Retinal Hemangioblastomas

Retinal hemangioblastomas are the most common manifestation of Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease [1-3]. While peripheral retinal hemangioblastomas may be treated by thermal laser treatment or cryotherapy, optic nerve and macular lesions are more difficult to treat [4, 5]. Based on the theoretical benefit of administering anti-VEGF treatment, intra-vitreally administered bevacizumab (Avastin, a ge...
